Spring is here at last!

Spring at Fynn Valley

It will come as no surprise I think to anyone that it has just been reported that recent April temperatures were the highest since September 2012! Difficult to recall now what fantastic conditions the course was in then—probably the best it had ever been. Certainly the cold, wet miserable months since have presented the greenstaff with all sorts of problems and only literally in the last couple of weeks have we had grass to cut that is green and not scorched brown/blue by the freezing winds. It has been a long depressing spell, but finally green shoots are emerging.

On top of the cold and wet, the rooks have also presented a problem on some of the tees, but we remain confident that with warmth, and some nutrients added, recovery will be relatively quick. So, late in what should have been Spring, the warm temperatures will bring an explosion of growth and the course will be lush and green again very soon. Pretty much all the bunker drainage has been renovated during the winter, so most of them now should drain quite quickly after a downpour.

The driving range has been refurbished with new mats and balls and even after 24 years the range itself remains smart with the Par Three greens especially in wonderful condition.

New Stock Now In for Spring/Summer

In the golf shops we have had our new season’s deliveries and now have two shops loaded with very good stock available at a very good price. There is a feel good factor in some new clothing or equipment after such a long lay off. Ranges from Adidas and Ashworth, Titleist and TaylorMade, Wilson, MD Golf and Benross, Garmin and Bushnell to name but a few. Open seven days a week, call in have a look.

We do offer an opportunity to book green fees for the 18 hole courses online through our partner TeeOffTimes. This Thursday 25th April, book through TeeOffTimes to pay only £15 for a round!

Fynn Valley’s popular programme of events continues this Friday 26th April with An Evening With Annika, where our very own Annika Rands will be singing in the Valley Room from 8.00pm.
